What is a Ratio?
A ratio is a comparison of two quantities, showing how many times one value contains or is contained within another. Ratios are expressed in the form "a:b" and are commonly used in mathematics, finance, cooking, and many other fields.
This calculator simplifies ratios to their lowest terms and also shows the percentage that one value represents of the total.
How Ratios Work
Example: If you have 20 apples and 30 oranges:
- • Ratio: 20:30
- • Simplified: 2:3 (dividing by GCF of 10)
- • This means for every 2 apples, there are 3 oranges
